Bundesnetzagentur and Bundeskartellamt sign cooperation agreement
Bundesnetzagentur and Bundeskartellamt concluded the cooperation agreement regarding the Market Transparency Unit for Electricity and Gas Wholesale Trading.
The cooperation agreement regulates the details of the cooperation by amicable collaboration within the Market Transparency Unit for Electricity and Gas Wholesale Trading (MTU Electricity/Gas). The cooperation agreement had been approved by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The MTU Electricity/Gas is set up at the Bundesnetzagentur; its tasks are carried out jointly by the Bundesnetzagentur and the Bundeskartellamt. The cooperation agreement contains provisions governing staffing and distribution of work, coordination of data collection and of the exchange of data and information.
The MTU Electricity/Gas will be staffed by both authorities. The detailed allocation of tasks will be guided by the degree of relatedness of a task to each of the authorities. The continuous exchange of information between the members of staff will be ensured. The exchange of data and information inter alia with the Bundeskartellamt, which is statutorily provided for, will be carried out through a direct electronic link conforming to data security rules and meeting the requirements of effective proceedings.
